“Working” and “Soft” skills

The work, despite ourselves, takes up most of our time. Therefore, it makes sense to pause to reflect on how this essential activity of our life takes place. For this reason, I have dedicated one of the thematic areas of my interdisciplinary blog to the analysis and analysis of my professional experiences, to the identification of the skills that I have gained and which constitute my cultural and professional background, and which I should try to bring to fruition in future. In current times, characterized by rapid technological evolutions, the periodic execution of this analysis has become indispensable, as never before. In fact, in order to not miss the train for the future, it is essential to periodically check the adequacy of one's technical knowledge and personal qualities to the new dynamics of society, the economy and the workplace. Also, the evolutions have become increasingly rapid, so much to make it more useful, indeed strategic, to focus on predicting future scenarios, rather than trying to adapt to the current situation. It is an excellent exercise, for example, to try to identify the skills that will be most requested in the future in the job market. Be careful though, because professional skills alone are not enough to be successful at work. In fact, new social contexts, new forms of collaboration, and new work environments require more than yesterday the involvement of personal qualities such as empathy, effective communication, ethics and intelligence emotional. So it has become fundamental to leverage introspection and self-criticism, in order to perform an accurate personal screening, to identify the gaps that certainly each of us has. And it is precisely by trying to mitigate these gaps that it can be improved and become more and more adapted to the working contexts of the future.

{Il lavoro, nostro malgrado, impegna la maggior parte del nostro tempo. E’ importante quindi soffermarsi a riflettere su come ci si predispone per assolvere a questo imprescindibile compito della nostra esistenza. Per questo motivo ho ritenuto opportuno dedicare una delle sezioni del mio diario elettronico all'analisi ed alla valutazione delle mie esperienze professionali, all'analisi delle competenze che ho maturato e che costituiscono la mia eredità culturale e professionale che posso potenzialmente spendere in futuro. Nei tempi correnti, caratterizzati da rapide evoluzioni tecnologiche l’esecuzione periodica di questa attività di analisi è diventato quanto mai indispensabile. Infatti per non rischiare di perdere il treno per il futuro è consigliabile verificare periodicamente l’adeguatezza della propria preparazione tecnica e delle proprie qualità personali alle nuove dinamiche sociali, economiche e del mondo del lavoro. Le evoluzioni sono così rapide da rendere più sensato e strategico l’impegnarsi nella previsione degli scenari futuri, piuttosto che sulla analisi della situazione corrente, cercando per esempio di comprendere quali saranno le competenze maggiormente richieste in futuro nel marcato del lavoro. Le competenze professionali, da sole, non sono sufficienti per avere successo nel mondo del lavoro. I nuovi contesti sociali richiedono, oggi più di ieri, il coinvolgimento di qualità personali come per esempio l’empatia, la comunicazione efficace, l’etica e l’intelligenza emotiva. Per cui risulta fondamentale armarsi di autocritica ed eseguire un accurato screening personale per individuare eventuali lacune su cui lavorare per cercare di migliorarsi in modo da diventare sempre più adeguati ai contesti lavorativi del futuro.}
