Similar to the basic principle of my interdisciplinary Lifelong Learning project, my tastes in terms of reading are also affected by my preference for the contamination of genres: the mosaic of reading genres that I prefer are very heterogeneous and, even if they do not seem to have nothing in common, indeed they seem to be rather at odds with each other, there is a logical thread that connects them. Or at least I can find one. More than a strategy, mine was a necessity, born already during the course of university studies. Unfortunately, when you dedicate yourself to disciplines, or to activities, purely of a technical nature, you risk losing contact with the human and cultural aspects of our civilization; we become hyper-rational, which in general should not be a defect for an engineer, but which often and at the same time makes us dry, cold and insensitive. So, to avoid this risk, I developed the need to combine the technical readings with the literary works and essays that the great thinkers of the past have left us as an inheritance; or science fiction works that feed and stimulate the imagination, projecting our thoughts towards the future; or works of poetry that awaken our soul and our feelings, or even gothic noir or thriller novels and short stories that stimulate wit. It surprises me often to find out how works of various kinds, ancient or modern, turn out to be inspiration and stimulus to strengthen and improve my personal culture. For this reason I thought it appropriate to dedicate one of the thematic areas of my inter-disciplinary Lifelong Learning project to my passion for Reading. In this thematic area you will find the details of my literary tastes, the references to my favorite readings.

{Analogamente al principio base del mio progetto di Lifelong Learning interdisciplinare, anche i miei gusti in termini di lettura risentono della mia predilezione per la contaminazione dei generi: il mosaico di generi di lettura che prediligo sono molto eterogenei e, anche se sembra che essi non abbiano nulla in comune, anzi sembrano essere piuttosto in contrasto l’uno con l’altro, c’è un filo logico che li collega. O perlomeno io ne riesco ad individuare uno. Più che una strategia la mia è stata una necessità, nata già durante il corso di studi universitari. Purtroppo quando ci si dedica a discipline, oppure ad attività, prettamente di natura tecnica, si rischia di perdere il contatto con gli aspetti umani e culturali della nostra civiltà; si diventa iper-razionali, che in generale non dovrebbe costituire un difetto per un ingegnere, ma che spesso e contemporaneamente rende aridi, freddi e insensibili. Quindi, per scongiurare questo rischio ho maturato la necessità di affiancare alle letture tecniche le opere letterarie ed i saggi che i grandi pensatori del passato ci hanno lasciato in eredità; oppure opere di fantascienza che alimentano e stimolano la fantasia, proiettando il nostro pensiero verso il futuro; oppure opere di poesia che risvegliano la nostra anima ed i nostri sentimenti, oppure ancora romanzi e racconti, di genere gotico noir o thriller, che stimolano l’arguzia. Mi sorprende scoprire spesso come opere di vario genere, antiche o moderne, si rivelino di ispirazione e stimolo per rafforzare e migliorare la mia cultura personale. Per questo motivo ho ritenuto opportuno dedicare una delle aree tematiche del mio progetto di Lifelong Learning inter-disciplinare alla mia passione per la Lettura.
