The computing and mobile communication technologies evolution

{L'evoluzione della tecnologia computazionale e di quella della comunicazione mobile}

Over the past forty years we have seen a significant evolution of computers, in particular with regard to their miniaturization.

  In the 1980s, we saw computers come out of huge rooms to take up considerably less space above or below our desk.
  In the nineties, the first PDAs that had mostly the function of organizer made their first appearance.
  Subsequently, the first laptop computers appeared that had comparable powers to those of their desk cousins, but could be taken for a walk.
  Then there was the mobile computing revolution fueled by the boom in mobile telephony and smartphones.
  Today the process of miniaturization of computers is still continuing and computers take on forms so small and so integrated with the objects we commonly use that we hardly notice their existence anymore.
  {Nel corso degli ultimi quarant’anni abbiamo visto una significativa evoluzione dei computer, in particolare per quanto riguarda la loro miniaturizzazione. 

  Negli anni Ottanta abbiamo visto uscire i computer dalle enormi stanze per occupare uno spazio notevolmente inferiore sopra o sotto la nostra scrivania. 

  Negli anni Novanta hanno fatto la prima comparsa i primi palmari che avevano per lo più la funzione di organizer. 

  Successivamente sono comparsi i primi laptop computers che avevano potenze comparabili con quelle dei loro cugini di scrivania, ma potevano essere portati a spasso. 

  Poi c’è stata la rivoluzione del mobile computing alimentata dal boom della telefonia mobile e degli smartphone. 

  Oggi il processo di miniaturizzazione dei calcolatori sta ancora continuando ed i calcolatori assumono forme così ridotte ed così tanto integrate con gli oggetti che utilizziamo comunemente che quasi non ci accorgiamo più della loro esistenza}
