Il calcolo elettronico portatile.

  Nowadays, more and more often, to obtain a competitive advantage, the business of a company moves to the forefront, that is, in close relationship and interaction with the customer. For this reason, data must be available, actions must be taken, decisions must be made, and transitions must be able to be performed when necessary and where the interaction with the customer takes place, that is, directly in the field.

  Oggigiorno, sempre più spesso, per ottenere un vantaggio competitivo il business di una azienda si sposta in prima linea, ossia in stretto rapporto ed interazione con il cliente. Per questo motivo i dati devono essere disponibili, le azioni devono essere intraprese, le decisioni devono essere prese, e le transizioni devono poter essere eseguite quando è necessario e la dove avviene l’interazione con il cliente, ossia direttamente sul campo.

  Per questo motivo la tecnologia di calcolo automatico (computing) e di comunicazione, che è di ausilio a tutte queste attività strategiche, deve permetterci di essere informati e connessi in prima linea, per esempio:

  quando un venditore deve far firmare a un cliente un contratto, utilizzando un dispositivo portatile.

  - when a police officer with a laptop in his vehicle needs to have access to a database of criminal information while on patrol.

    quando un agente di polizia con un laptop nel suo veicolo, deve poter accedere accedere a un database di informazioni criminali mentre è di pattuglia.

  - when a field service technician, using a laptop, must be able to find the information necessary to solve the customer's problem as soon as possible.

    quando un tecnico dell'assistenza sul campo, per mezzo di un laptop, deve poter reperire le informazioni necessarie per risolvere quanto prima il problema del cliente.

 - when a retailer, within his shop, must be able to easily process economic transactions by means of a point-of-sale (POS) device, and at the same time update the warehouse database, in order to constantly monitor stock levels.

    quando un venditore al dettaglio, all’interno del suo negozio, deve poter elaborare agevolmente le transazioni economiche per mezzo di un dispositivo point-of-sale (POS), e contemporaneamente aggiornare il database del magazzino, al fine di tenere costantemente sotto controllo i livelli delle scorte.

- when a health worker must have up-to-date information on the patient, wherever it is needed, such as when visiting the patient hospitalized, or directly at his home.

   quando un operatore sanitario, deve poter disporre di informazioni aggiornate sul paziente, ovunque sia necessario, come per esempio quando visita il paziente ricoverato in ospedale, oppure direttamente a casa sua.
