Summary. Ignoring the problems does not facilitate their resolution, rather it favors their complication and the slowing down of the solution process. To identify the existence of a problem it is necessary first of all to have well-defined desires and objectives, to have constant attention to what is happening, to have objectivity in evaluations and a willingness to listen to others and confront them.
L'ignorare i problemi non agevola la loro risoluzione, anzi ne favorisce la loro complicazione ed i rallentamento del processo soluzione. Per individuare la esistenza di un problema è necessario innanzitutto che avere desideri ed obiettivi ben definiti, avere una costante attenzione a quello che accade, avere oggettività nelle valutazioni e disponibilità ad ascoltare gli altri ed a confrontarsi con essi.

Ignorare i primi sintomi di un problema non agevola la loro risoluzione.
Very often the ability of Problem Soling is attributed to those who can solve a problem as quickly as possible, identifying at the same time its most effective solution. But nobody reflects on the fact that for a problem to be solved it must first be identified. That is, we must first recognize the existence of the problem itself. And this competence may not be so trivial.
Molto spesso si attribuisce l'abilità di Problem Soling a chi riesce a risolvere il più velocemente un problema, individuando contestualmente la sua soluzione più efficace. Però nessuno riflette sul fatto che affinché un problema possa essere risolto esso deve essere, innanzitutto, individuato. Ossia, occorre innanzi tutto riconoscere l'esistenza del problema stesso. E questa competenza potrebbe non essere così banale.
A problem continues to exist regardless of our ability, or desire, to recognize it. In fact, due to the fact that a problem is connected to something negative and unpleasant, the human mind normally tends to ignore its existence, mistakenly believing that simply ignoring the problem also avoids the discomfort caused by it, and therefore solves it.
Un problema continua ad esistere a prescindere dalla nostra capacità, o voglia, di riconoscerlo. Infatti, a causa del fatto che un problema è connesso a qualcosa di negativo e spiacevole, la mente umana tende normalmente ad ignorare la sua esistenza, ritenendo erroneamente che semplicemente ignorando il problema si scongiura anche il disagio causato da esso, e quindi lo si risolve.
Problems call other problems, so ignoring their existence not only does not solve them but delays the solution process, allowing the problem to get complicated and turn into a more serious problem.
I problemi chiamano altri problemi, quindi ignorarne la loro esistenza non solo non li risolve ma ne ritarda il processo di soluzione, permettendo al problema di complicarsi e di trasformarsi in un problema più grave.
The problems can be difficult to recognize, since, especially in the initial phase, they manifest themselves with imperceptible events to which we do not attach the due importance. So it happens that when we are finally aware of it, the problem is already far enough and has already taken on a dimension and complexity that make it difficult to deal with.
I problemi possono essere difficilmente riconoscibili, in quanto, sopratutto nella fase iniziale, essi si manifestano con eventi impercettibili a cui non attribuiamo la dovuta importanza. Così accade che, quando ne siamo finalmente consapevoli, il problema è già abbastanza avanti ed ha assunto già una dimensione e complessità che ne rendono difficoltosa la trattazione.
Therefore, it is easy to understand that one of the most important phases in the process of managing a problem is the one in which awareness of the problem is taken. The ability and speed with which you are able to become aware of a problem have a significant impact on the difficulty of solving the problem itself.
Quindi, é facilmente intuibile che tra nel processo di gestione di un problema una delle fasi più importanti è quella in cui si prende consapevolezza del problema. L'abilità e la velocità con cui si riesce a prendere consapevolezza di un problema incidere sensibilmente sulla difficoltà di risoluzione del problema stesso.

§2. Clear ideas, attention, objectivity and comparison.

How we can reveal the existence of a problem? And how we can force our mind to consider them quickly?
When business or the life events go differently than we would like, it's precisely in these cases that we are observing the beginning of a "uneasiness". A "problem" origin properly following a "uneasiness" and it represent the desire to change the situation in order to eliminate or mitigate the "uneasiness" itself. A problem can be understood as a "gap" between the current state and the desired one, that is as a leap to be made between the point in which one finds oneself and that in which one would like to be. If the identification of a "problem" coincides with the recognition of a "uneasiness", the resolution of a "problem" coincides with the search for a "solution".
Come facciamo ad accorgerci della esistenza di un problema? E come facciamo a costringere la nostra mente a prenderne velocemente consapevolezza?
Quando gli affari o la gli eventi della vita vanno in un modo diverso da come noi avremmo voluto, in quel momento stiamo assistendo al manifestarsi di un "disagio". Un "problema" nasce proprio a seguito di un "disagio" ed esprime il desiderio di voler cambiare le cose in modo da eliminare, o quanto meno mitigare, il "disagio" stesso. Un problema può essere inteso come un “gap” tra lo stato attuale e quello desiderato, cioè come salto da effettuare tra il punto in cui ci si trova e quello in cui si vorrebbe essere. Se la individuazione di un "problema" coincide con il riconoscimento di un "disagio", la risoluzione di un "problema" coincide con la ricerca di una "soluzione".
To capture the uneasiness, it's necessary to evaluate each small signal while maintaining a high level of attention, even at the risk of registering a false alarm most of the times. So it's clear that in order to notice something that is wrong it is first necessary to understand how things should go. This means that in order to notice an uneasiness as soon as possible it's necessary to have clear ideas on how we would like things to go. Therefore, at the base of everything it is fundamental that the objectives and priorities have been well defined, and that the actions for the future have been meticulously planned after having carried out an accurate study of forecasting future events. In short, there needs to be a clear project with realistic forecasts of the future, sufficiently detailed to easily identify the events that deviate from our plans as soon as possible.
Per captare i disagi occorre valutare ogni piccolo segnale mantenendo costantemente un livello elevato di attenzione, anche a rischio di registrare un falso allarme la maggior parte delle volte. Quindi è palese che per accorgersi di qualcosa che non va occorre prima aver chiaro come dovrebbero andare le cosa. Questo significa che per accorgersi quanto prima di un disagio occorre avere le idee chiare su come vorremmo che le cose andassero. Quindi, alla base di tutto è fondamentale che gli obiettivi e le priorità siano stati ben definiti, e che le azioni per il futuro siano state minuziosamente pianificate dopo aver eseguito uno studio accurato di previsione degli eventi futuri. Insomma occorre che ci sia un progetto chiaro con previsioni verosimili del futuro, sufficientemente dettagliate da permettere facilmente di identificare il prima possibile gli eventi che si discostano dai nostri piani.
These possible deviations from the intended and desired route will only be signs of possible uneasiness. Since sometimes the spirit of conservation triggers some self-deception mechanisms of the brain, which lead us to neglect alarm signals that could compromise our tranquility and our internal balance, we must always maintain an attitude that is as objective as possible, trying not to be engage emotionally in situations.
Questi eventuali scostamenti dal percorso previsto e desiderato non costituiranno altro che i segnali di possibili disagi. Poiché talvolta lo spirito di conservazione innesca dei meccanismi di autoinganno del cervello, che ci portano a trascurare segnali di allarme che potrebbero compromettere la nostra tranquillità ed il nostro equilibrio interno, occorre mantenere sempre un atteggiamento che sia quanto più possibile oggettivo, cercando di non farsi coinvolgere emotivamente dalle situazioni.
Sometimes, despite our good intentions, we fail to be objective and impartial in evaluations. In these cases the discomfort fails to reveal itself to our eyes, and this happens simply because our observation point is such as to keep the discomfort hidden from our eyes. To avoid this, it might be a good practice to observe events from multiple points of view.
Talvolta, nonostante i nostri buoni propositi, non riusciamo ad essere oggettivi ed imparziali nelle valutazioni. In questi casi il disagio non riesce a rivelarsi ai nostri occhi, e ciò avviene semplicemente perché il nostro punto di osservazione è tale da mantenere nascosto il disagio ai nostri occhi. Per scongiurare questa evenienza potrebbe essere una buona pratica quella di osservare gli eventi da più punti di vista.
Consider, for example, the "Six Hats for Thinking" method suggested by Edward De Bono, father of "lateral thinking". Obviously to do this it is necessary to have relevant self-control and analysis capabilities. Sometimes, in order to obtain opinions deriving from multiple points of view, as different as possible, it may be sufficient to relate to and compare oneself with a friend, or with the partner, or with a work colleague or a parent.
Si pensi ad esempio al metodo dei "Sei cappelli per pensare" suggerito da Edward De Bono, padre del "pensiero laterale". Ovviamente per far questo occorre possedere delle rilevanti capacità di auto-controllo ed analisi. Talvolta, per ottenere pareri derivanti da più punti di vista, il più possibile differenti, può essere sufficiente relazionarsi e confrontarsi con un amico, oppure con il partner, o con un collega di lavoro o con un genitore.

§3. The foreboding of the uneasiness start from the knowledge of themselves.
Il presentimento del disagio nasce dalla conoscenza di sé.
Sometimes the uneasiness appears clearly, other times it appears in a way not so clear. In the most obvious cases the presence of an uneasiness is evidenced by the onset of aggression or by the loss of self-control, or by excessive reactions of anger, crying, instability, difficulty with sleep, stomach ache. But, when the uneasiness appears in a no clear way, how we can detect their real signals? Regarding this, each of us has a specific and different sensibility.
Il disagio a volte compare in modo palese, altre in modo sottile. Nei casi più espliciti il disagio è testimoniato da aggressività o perdita di autocontrollo, oppure da reazioni eccessive di rabbia, pianto, instabilità, difficoltà con il sonno, mal di pancia. Ma quando il disagio compare in modo sottile e subdolo, come si possono cogliere i suoi (reali) segnali? A proposito di ciò, ognuno di noi è dotato di una sensibilità specifica, differente da quella degli altri.
For this reason, any suggestion to predict the occurrence of an uneasiness, can have a value only indicative and general. Each of us should do a work of introspection and try to discover the most effective method that is suitable for our characteristics and the objectives we want to achieve.
Per questo motivo, qualsiasi suggerimento per presagire il verificarsi di un disagio, non può che avere solo una valenza indicativa e generale. Ognuno di noi dovrebbe fare innanzitutto un lavoro di introspezione e e cercare di scoprire il metodo più efficace ed adatto alle proprie caratteristiche ed agli obiettivi che ci si prefigge di raggiungere.

I was initially an Information Technology expert, and later I became an electronic engineer, specializing in industrial Automation. I'm passionate about Artificial intelligence, Virtual Reality, Simulation, and I'm an expert in Artificial Vision applied to industrial Automation. Currently, and starting four years ago, I am employed as a Proposal Engineer at Mer Mec S.p.A. (:::) company. Previously, starting in 2004, I was employed, always at the same company, as a Designer of Artificial Vision Systems and Image Processing Algorithms, applied in particular to Railway Diagnostics. Sono stato in principio un esperto di Informatica, e in seguito sono diventato un Ingegnere Elettronico, specializzato in Automazione Industriale.
