Il secondo capitolo dell’opera di Vincenzo Schettini, dal titolo “Botole, autobus e svuotatasche” ci spiega come fanno gli uccelli a volare, introduce il concetto di portanza, e spiega come l’invenzione degli aerei sia avvenuta, in passato, ispirandosi al volo degli uccelli.

Schettini parla inoltre dell’accelerazione che subiscono i corpi in caduta libera (secondo principio della dinamica) e della resistenza (effetto freno) impressa dall’aria su tali corpi. Attraverso semplici esperimenti che chiunque può replicare viene spiegato come la forma dell’oggetto in caduta incida sulla resistenza.

A proposito di quest’ultima, non perdetevi la magistrale spiegazione delle forze apparenti, e vedrete che i vostri viaggi in auto e in aereo saranno più interessanti.

Schettini parla infine del moto circolare come ulteriore esempio di sistema non inerziale e della forza centrifuga, ossia per intenderci della forza che percepiamo quando siamo su una giostra, come esempio di forza apparente.
