La recessione economica e la crisi ambientale hanno ridato nuovamente valore alle persone in grado di auto-produrre beni.

In passato, la promessa di una vita più agitata e meno faticosa ha provocato la migrazione degli agricoltori/allevatori dalle campagne in città, vivendo ciò come una promozione sociale.

I saperi tradizionali e le competenze che per anni hanno retto l’economia dell’autoproduzione furono disprezzate in favore delle nuove tecniche scientifiche e industriali ed una società fondata sulla crescita di produzione di merci. Ebbene questo nuovo modello di vita si è rivelato meno sostenibile di quello precedente e disprezzato. Infatti non occorre essere geni per capire che la crescita infinita non è possibile in un mondo con risorse limitate. Era inevitabile che la crescita si fermasse, ed infatti nel 2008 in America la gente ha cominciato a rivalutare l'auto-produzione di beni di sostentamento, ha cominciato a coltivare ortaggi sui terrazzi dei palazzi, ed a costruire pollai in casa.
[EN/ The traditional knowledge and skills that for years have supported the economy of self-production were despised in favor of new scientific and industrial techniques and a society founded on the growth of the production of goods. Well, this new model of life has proved to be less sustainable than the previous and despised one. In fact, you don't need to be a genius to understand that infinite growth is not possible in a world with limited resources. It was inevitable that growth would stop, and in fact in 2008 in America people began to reevaluate the self-production of livelihood goods, they began to grow vegetables on the terraces of buildings, and to build chicken coops at home.]
La riduzione del potere d’acquisto e la disoccupazione hanno costretto i capi di stato a suggerire ed incentivare il ritorno all’agricoltura. Ovviamente ritornare al vecchio modello di autoproduzione, disprezzato e cancellato in favore del modello di produzione industriale, non è più possibile. Auspichiamo un nuovo mondo in cui entrambi i modelli coesistono in un equilibrio dettato dalla convenienza di quanto conviene autoprodurre e quanto invece è vantaggioso comprare da un sistema di produzione industriale sostenibile.
