Con la crescente dipendenza dai dati da parte delle nuove tecnologie, le modalità di accesso, di utilizzo e di condivisione dei dati stanno diventando sempre più importanti su scala globale. La maggior parte di queste infrastrutture cloud è di proprietà privata. Amazon, Google, Meta e Microsoft detengono oltre la metà dei centri dati iper-scala del mondo e presto queste aziende possederanno più di 30 collegamenti via cavo a lunga distanza con ogni continente, consolidando le informazioni con il potere.

With the increasing reliance on data by new technologies, the ways in which data is accessed, used and shared are becoming increasingly important on a global scale. Most of this cloud infrastructure is privately owned. Amazon, Google, Meta and Microsoft own more than half of the world's hyper-scale data centers, and soon these companies will own more than 30 long-distance cable links to each continent, consolidating information with power.

  I ricercatori dell'Università di Loughborough (UK) hanno dimostrato che una telecamera a onde terahertz è in grado di catturare immagini 3D di oggetti microscopici, suggerendo che le onde terahertz potrebbero essere utilizzate in futuro per la microscopia.

  Il termine radiazione Terahertz è una denominazione relativamente recente per indicare un certo intervallo di frequenze. La radiazione Terahertz si trova all'estremità superiore della fascia a infrarossi, poco prima dell'inizio della banda a microonde. nel 1974 per la prima volta Fleming utilizzò tale termine per indicare quello che fino allora si indicava come lontano infrarosso, abbreviato con l'acronimo FIR.

  Researchers at Loughborough University (UK) have demonstrated that a terahertz wave camera can capture 3-D images of microscopic objects, suggesting that terahertz waves could be used for microscopy in the future.

  The term terahertz radiation is a relatively recent designation for a certain range of frequencies. Terahertz radiation is located at the upper end of the infrared band, just before the beginning of the microwave band. in 1974 for the first time Fleming used the term to refer to what was hitherto referred to as far-infrared, abbreviated as FIR.
